I have been getting an enormous barrage of emails in the last two months with new user registrations on the site forum. Oddly enough, the forums are not even active no working properly as myself and Jeff have not been able to maintain the site for legacy support. Due to this odd activity (probably spam bots) I have permanently disabled the forums until I can figure out what is up.

In addition, I have also been getting emails from users requesting older firmware packages in which I do not have. Specifically Touch Diamond and Touch Pro (1) MightyROM files.

If anyone is able to pull these files out of their archive and send them to me that would be really appreciated. I am looking for the following:

MightyROM4_06.20.09_Herman.exe
MightyROM6_Herman.exe
MightyROM4_Victor.exe
MightyROM6_Victor.exe

Please use the “contact” page above to contact me. Send me the info / download links.

Thank you everyone! Take care and hope everyone has had a great holiday/ new year

Update: Apparently I was drunk while linking the Kitchen, because for this entire day it has been linking to the ROM itself and not the kitchen. I have updated the link. My apologies everyone.

The time has come everyone. With myself moving to the Android world, I have decided to release my source base for the MightyROM RhodiumW series. Included in this package is the very kitchen that I myself utilized when creating the MightyROM. There are absolutely no changes to this kitchen, It is left exactly in the way it was for the final release back in June.

This is not your typical kitchen. For users familiar with other kitchens out there such as Calkulins, SSK, etc. They provide you with a numerous amount of selections in terms of different themes, packages, etc. This source here contains nothing but an extremely stable base. Opening the kitchen and hitting build will essentially get you the exact MightyROM release from June 20th, 2010.

Other than that, I would like to say thanks to everyone for the support over the last while, it has definitely been a ride!

Head on over to the Touch Pro 2 section to grab the source!

As everyone may know, myself and Mr. X have ceased development support over at PPCGeeks.
There are many reasons to this, although too many to even bother with. That being said, We have launched our own community here at MightyROM.com in which we will continue support for our projects released in the past as well as the future.

Be sure to register and join in on the fun, all support questions related to MightyROM or Mr. X ROM can be started in the forum immediately.

Yeah the forum might not be in depth as something such as XDA Devleopers, although that’s not what we’re going for. This is a support forum to answer your questions as well as to hang out.

All the nitty gritty will begin on XDA-Developers in which myself and X have decided to begin development and contribute to their community as it suits our new direction better.

Take care everyone, see you on the forums!

With the release of the latest Verizon MR2 ROM, some new goodies have flown down the pipe which finally gave me an incentive to freshen up and enhance a few things with the MightyROM Series.

The latest update won’t blow you out of the water in regards to new features, as in fact, it doesn’t even introduce any. That being said, anyone who knows the purpose of the MightyROM will also know that back end performance is key and evident ally that is the end goal with this release.

An important kernel update has been introduced which should improve memory management and the fluidity of multitasking. A notable bug fix has been solved as well which affected users who ran the traditional titanium display and had the overlapping up/down arrows on their menu’s. Thanks to the Verizon ROM update, I have re-introduced the XXL Phone Canvas Dialer which will obviously improve accuracy for those naughty drivers who like to dial and drive!

Enough chatter, lets get to the rom flashing.

With the release of a MR2 ROM by Verizon Wireless for the Touch Pro 2, came excitement about something new. However this quickly turned into frustration by users who shortly realized that the ROM failed to boot. See Mr. X’s diagnosis and fix inside.

After Reading the forums at http://www.ppcgeeks.com it didn’t take users long to realize that the HSPL was the cause of the ROMs hang, or was it the ROM its self? Well its both. Users soon figured out that if you flash back to a stock bootloader the MR2 update would boot no issues. Then shortly after this another user Nightraven from PPCGeeks decided to do what any chef would do in a no boot situation and start digging into the xip and the drivers associated with booting the OS. he or She discovered that one of the OEM XIP Kernel drivers was to blame, specifically OEM_FLASHDRV_1.DLL. Removing this and while you’re at it you may as well remove OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL and also edit them and any reference to an extended rom out of the boot registry, will in fact allow you to recook and boot the ROM successfully.

Is this all just a sad coincidence that many users have to relock to flash this rom, is it poor rom building on HTC/Verizons part? Was this intentional? No one is really sure. It’s up for dispute as no one has any facts to be honest.

Now here is my take on this, my diagnosis of the issue if you want to call it that. Now part of this is based on an educated guess as I’m not a SPL expert. OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL and OEM_FLASHDRV_1.DLL appear to be drivers for an extended ROM. I’m not sure why they are included because they are not needed by the device at all to function properly nor are any of the carriers appearing to deploy and use an extended ROM partition for their software customizations. No chefs that I know of are taking advantage of the EXT partition “proses” and this makes these drivers and there reference to boot up with the XIP/Kernel and launch useless. Now my speculation is that for some reason when the OS boots its halting and most likely has something to do with the driver and looking if an EXT ROM exists. My theory is that for some reason the HSPL causes this proses to malfunction causing a no boot situation. This is the first time I’ve personally seen a OS have issues booting from a HSPL flashed device so your guess is as good as mine if this is even the right theory, but its a pretty good guess as to whats gumming up the works.

There was enough users on the forums reporting issues that I took it upon my self to dump the ROM, clean out the xip of the above DLL files, removed all EXT ROM reference, made it tethering safe, added in a HTC task manager, Added in Wifi Router, replaced the D3D driver with a better preforming one and put in a driver patch that will stop the SOD (sleep of death) from occurring. Basically I made this ROM the way it SHOULD have been shipped out.

The last two sense 2.5 updates pushed out by HTC for the Touch Pro 2 seemed to be a mess in some way, the Sprint MR1 is a mess, even the device name in active sync partinership in the Sprint MR1 has a damn typo in it. Looks like some one is dropping the ball these days.

As promised above here is the FIXED version of the Verizon Wireless MR2 Touch Pro 2 Rom Upgrade.

Download

Unfortunately I have been extremely busy and didn’t have time to manage the site, although I have taken the time to restore access to those links.

You should find that all downloads should function properly with the exception of the 6.1 series Diamond ROM. Unfortunately I will have to dig in the archives and re-upload that ROM for everyone.

Once again, I apologize for the delay.

access wait times, the Hives are also smaller and do not suffer

fragmentation like old building the method.

May 24th, 2010 Update: Thanks to Conflipper, I have found a reason to supply everyone with a ROM Update. Performance increase on the Manila Core should be noticed, some minor Icon adjustments and all that jazz! Enjoy!

May 1st, 2010 saw the introduction of three MightyROM’s. Although very different in their own respects, they all have one thing in common. Reliability! Continue reading to get a brief description of what each ROM features to make your decision on which ROM to flash a little easier.

MightyROM Official

Description: The ROM that started it all, the official ROM that basically describes what MightyROM is all about! Speed, stability, reliability! If your looking for eye candy in this one, you won’t find any! It features a bare stock resemblance as if you just purchased your phone. Well what’s the difference between that and a carrier rom? Years of experience and tweaking the behind the scenes giving your phone as much performance as it’s really gonna get. Unless someone straps a turbo onto your phone, it ain’t going any faster than it will be after you flash this one! Listen. If your a user who doesn’t like to flash their phone a lot and want something that you can rely on. This is it! Period!

Platform: Windows Phone® 6.5

Interface: HTC Sense 2.5

MightyROM Full Force

Description: Featuring the newest platform from Microsoft, MightyROM Full Force shows off it’s 6.5.5 style. With this ROM here you’re going to get the same stability with the official ROM, although there are plenty of kinks that are out of my hand with this ROM. Unfortunately the 6.5.5 platform is still beta and has a few glitches. While they may not be life threatening, they can still bug some users.

Platform: Windows Phone®

Interface: HTC Sense 2.5

MightyROM Special Edition

Description: I decided to do something special for my users on this one here. I have a reputation for not being a theme artist or putting fancy decals within the ROM. Long story short, This ROM will feature a pre-made “Blue” theme from my right hand man Purian! He has done a fantastic job being by my side throughout just about the entire tenure of the Touch Pro 2 series. This ROM is meant to really give him some recognition for all the hard work he has done for the MightyROM series over the last year. Along with that, this ROM is built based off the Official Platform. So one thing is forsure here, no stability issues. Along with the beautiful theme, it comes pre packed with new boot screens and animations in addition to the Blue-esque theme.

Platform: Windows Phone® 6.5

Interface: HTC Sense 2.5

Gech (also referred to as just “Tom”) from XDA-Developers has just updated this application to resolve issues that were caused by the April update to Http://www.geocaching.com. Site changes made gathering data about a cache with this app cause a “cache not found” error. The Update was rolled out Sunday April the 11th 2010 after the error was brought to his attention earlier the previous week.

Although the changes to the Geocaching home site may not have been done to thwart this application directly, there is speculation this is so, because it’s not an “official” Geocaching.com authorized application. This application is thought to be in breach of there terms of use agreement according to Groundspeak, INC. A short explanation of the breach specifically, is this app is considered to “scrape” information from the website. This means automatically connecting and downloading cache information to the user. This is not entirely true. Although this application does download cache information and organize it for you it does not automatically do so you have to manually initiate the process. This is why the app seems to be in a gray area right now, and is not authorized as an official app nor banned from the Groundspeak forums for topic of chat. back to the speculation of why it’s not authorized, as one user has stated on XDA-Developers is because it provides information and layouts in par with the abilities of a GPX waypoint and information exchange file, this GPX file/Information is usually only available for download from the site to Premium members of the Groundspeak network. This is what raises the speculation that they have not authorized the app as it thwarts the sites requirement to be a premium member to download all the cache information in one easy step. While this is an understandable concern, users of this application do hope that Groundspeak, INC and NICQUE Freeware can come to some sort of agreement that will allow the app to be official, giving the developer access to the sites API and thus making the app less prone to breaking when site updates occur.

I myself am a GroundSpeak Premium member, so I’ve paid my dues. I also really like this app because it’s the best one, if not the only fully loaded and functional Geocaching application out there for Windows Mobile. So it’s a real bummer when I’m out on the road and the app breaks for me. I personally hope that Tom, and GroundSpeak can come to some sort of agreement allowing Tom to use the Groundspeak and Geocaching logos and access to their API.

After a long wait, I’ve finally given my users something to use based off the new Sprint shipped 6.5 Rom. It was a Long proses because my kitchen was giving my random issues, so I ended up just tossing it in the gutter and building a new one, this means a new ROM as well, from the ground up.

I had talked with NFSFan a few months back about an application called Extended Reloc’. This app basically is a better way to reloc’ and map ROM modules and XIP/Kernel modules. This optimizations of module relocation and memory mapping in the extended ROM as well as the kernel (nk.exe) allows for better memory management with less leaking.

This is important because we all know in 6.5 the OS its self likes to munch up and reserve memory for apps you have had opened, also closing apps on you when it thinks memory is too low. HTC’s resource proxy also does this as well grabbing “shared memory” and reserving it for its HTC sense and the applications it may call as well. While this memory reservation makes HTC’s apps nice and snappy it can cause a fair amount of ram to be munched up thus leaving less for third party apps you have installed and use.

What you will experience with this new ROM, is something I’ve never been able to achieve before, almost zero memory leakage. Yes the ROM uses ram, yes sense and resource proxy reserve ram. So its not uncommon to see the RAM usage increase. However what we’re talking about here is leaking memory this is apparent when for example you leave your device charging overnight and when you wake up you have went from 50% ram usage to 80% usage over night with out the device being used clearly. This leak situation now seems to be gone or very minute.

There is also a speed advantage to all of this, since I was able to properly map the modules in the extended ROM, i was able to leave more modules as modules rather then converting them to a file. This means that they can be called upon faster thus increasing ROM response times. For example, it was not uncommon with the new Notification Enhancement packages from 2.5 shipped ROMs to cause the ROM to hang on boot. This was because the inability for older reloc’ing tools to relocate and map properly some of the modules inside this package. The solution was to reverse modulate the module into a file. While this works it also is not ideal because we know that usually modules are faster in memory then a dynamic link library its self.

So, In the end, the new kitchen is a work of art, at least i think so. I’m quite pleased with the results so give it a shot!
