I am sure many people are familiar with software such as SPB Backup and use it quite frequently, although there is one underlying issue with software such as that. For one, in most cases it backs up your entire registry, therefore when restoring your settings on a different rom platform, you can inmost cases run into many unwanted issues. Ziggy from PPCGeeks has created a much more easier and user minded tool for that.Ziggy’s Backup Application is extremely light weight. It’s purpose of design is to only back up the information that matters the most. That being said, in reference to other backup software, what they essentially do is rip out your entire registry and save it. Well problem being is that different ROM’s have different registry platforms, edits, etc. Overwriting with your backup can essentially cause major issues with your device. Users are only looking for certain information to be backed up and that is what Ziggy has done. His backup application currently supports the following features:
•Email account settings
•Exchange account settings
•Communication Planner settings (i.e. Connection timeouts, HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings)
•VPN Settings
•Basic Owner information to include:
•The ‘Me’ Contact card
•Facebook account information
•Default Ringtone
•ActiveSync Settings
•Bluetooth Pairings
•Manila Tabs with order
•Home tab quick links
As you can see, it is geared towards a more logical way of backing up your most important information. The application also allows you to easily restore these settings, therefore you don’t have to scrounge around your registry.
Although the application is currently in beta form, He is working hard to clean up the application and make it more friendlier and easy to use when it comes to exporting/importing your information.
